Watch a video of Dr. Marc Maurer speaking about Braille literacy
The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) is the leading promoter of Braille literacy. Below you can learn more about Braille in general as well as more about the Braille programs and initiatives of the NFB.
NFB's New Braille Readers are Leaders InitiativeThe National Federation of the Blind established an unprecedented and comprehensive initiative in Braille literacy in July 2008. This coincided with the unveiling of the design (Windows Media video) for the Louis Braille Commemorative Coin from the United States Treasury in honor of Braille’s 200th birthday. The initiative will be marked by the most significant investment in literacy for the blind ever—raising $8 million for Braille literacy programs into the future—and an innovative network of programs that dramatically enhance opportunities and education for the blind.
