What’s
so funny about diabetes? Nothing, says Jim Turner. But managing your diabetes?
Well, that can reveal some interesting, and even hilarious, aspects of your
personality. He does just that in “Diabetes: My Struggles with Jim Turner,”
his one-man comedy show about four decades of living with diabetes.
Turner, a type I diabetic and veteran comedian and writer, says the audience
always participates, and always ends up laughing at themselves more than at
the disease. “I see them in the audience, laughing and nodding their heads
and saying, ‘yep, I’ve done that,’” says Turner. Thanks
to event sponsors DDI, the makers of the Prodigy Voice talking blood glucose
meter, you can catch this witty and touching performance July 1, 2008, from
5 to 7 p.m., directly following the annual meeting of the NFB DAN. All convention
attendees are welcome.
